Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi. If the infant is breathing heavily and the lungs are OK, then it can be some systemic infection causing condition called metabolic acidosis. Also upper airway obstruction can be the cause. What was the indication for intubation? Does the child have recurring cough and cold?
