Suggest Treatment For Boil On The Buttocks

Hello doctor.I am an 18 yr old male.I have a pimple/boil on my butt. Been there for about a year or so.There is not much pain but i have difficulty sitting as it hurts slightly.It is about 8 mm to 1cm in length and about the same length in width.Any help to get rid of it would be appreciated.Thank you.email - YYYY@YYYY

Thanks for posting your query to Healthcaremagic .

A normal boil will not last for more than few weeks , it either resolves by itself or ruptures and drains out pus .

So if its there for a year there I don't think its a boil . It has to be something else . I think it could be an infected Sebaceous cyst which is a blocked oil gland under the skin .

You need an antibiotic course for this . I advise you consult your doctor for an antibiotic course and take it . If it persists in spite of that then it may have to be removed surgically .

It would be better if you can post the picture of the boil so that I can see it and advise you better .
