Oh thank you. My dad had pain from his shoulder to the upper side of his chest and brought to the hospital they had ct and found a small blood clot on his lung. He has history of esophageal bleeding due to cirroces of the liver. Can they use heparin or what can they treat him with
Hello. I am Dr. Praveen and I will be answering your question today.
They will probably be putting him on heparin or low molecular weight heparin and later change him to tablets like warfarin. The pulmonary embolus will take a while to resolve. The history of prior GI bleed is worrisome especially in the setting of cirrhosis. However under proper drug titration and frequent blood monitoring he will tread the right path. Stay calm.
Wishing him good health. Please feel free to drop in any more queries if need be. Take care. Warm regards, Dr Praveen Jeyapathy
