Suggest Treatment For Blood Blister On Thumb Caused By Injury
I dropped a piece of wood on my wrist and immediately above the that where my thumb is located, I swelled up with what looked like was a huge blood blister and then after time it went back down; but now half my hand Is slightly swollen and has turned black and blue
As per your complain it seems that due to injury to the wrist there has been rupture to small blood vessels causing spillage of blood into the soft tissues leading to blue black appearrence due to bruising as well as hematoma formation.. The soft tissue injury has led to inflammatory reaction and causing exudation of inflammatory fluid and accumulation of inflammatory cells and dead tissue fibres in that area leading to swelling and there can also be pain..
Nothing to worry you can take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen. Do cold compresses over the swollen region. Apply Thrombophob gel or other brands containing Heparin for faster fading of bruising.. You can also take a short course of antibiotics to prevent infection.. In case if swelling is in excess you can consult a general physician and get injection of steroid like dexamethasone for faster reduction in inflammation and swelling..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
