I feel sleep deprived all day even after sleeping for eight hours. I am not obese, age 29, height 5 10 , weight 150 pounds, South Asian male. I do not smoke and drink. I was told that I have mild sleep apnea, for which I tried CPAP and it did not help. I consulted several doctors and I do not see any improvement. I had several basic tests done and doctors found all are normal. Finally I do not know if my issue is related to a mental condition like Insomnia or due to physical condition that’s causing breathing difficulties. Following are my symptoms. 1. Feel sleep deprived and tired all day long. I also feel hunger frequently than a normal person. 2. I wake up 1 to 2 times in the night for urination or stool (I feel in my sleep I am putting more pressure on some parts of my body unintentionally due to insufficient oxygen, which in turn causing this). Once I wake up in night, sometimes I do not sleep immediately, I feel like not getting enough oxygen. 3. I observe one of my nostrils blocked when I wake up in middle or in morning. ENT doctor observed that I have septum deviation, had Septoplasty, even after Septoplasty, my condition not improved. 4. In nights I get mucus in throat and I found this is called Postnasal drip. 5. I do not get cough and headaches. 6. Lot of times before sleep I feel pressure around throat and it gets relived after multiple burps. 7. I get dreams all my sleep and I am not sure if dreams are affecting quality of my sleep. 8. One doctor thought it might be because I have depression and prescribed some anti-depression medications, with which I observed side effects and I stopped taking them. 9. I got my lungs checked by a pulmonologist and found lungs normal, but doctor told I have VCD and asked me to try a breathing exercise. 10. Have low vitamin D ( I found this is very common for many people) 11. Having no known allergies, but allergist thinks I may have non-allergic rhinitis. 12. ENT doctor checked my throat and found that there are signs of GERD, but I do not have heartburn. 13. I had sleep test done, sleep doctor told I have mild sleep apnea, I tried CPAP for 6 months, but I did not see any improvement. Based on above symptoms, please suggest what I need to do and which specialist I need to consult.
