Hallow Dear,

Your mother seems to be right in her advice. If there is a cut which is bleeding actively, it will need suturing. If the cut is not sutured within 24 hours, some infection and/or swelling may develop in the wound which will not allow the cut to heal after suturing. In such cases, control of infection with antibiotics and control of swelling by anti-inflammatory medicines is required before suturing; which may even require three weeks or so. Please continue applying Neosporine ointment 4-5 times a day.

For the swelling of vulva due to bleeding under the skin (contusion) and blunt injury, you may apply cold ice packs. If there is intolerable pain you my take some painkiller; however, please avoid aspirin.

I hope this helps you.
