Suggest Treatment For Bladder Infection And Pelvic Pain
Hi. I went to the ER Friday evening and discovered I had an unknown bladder infection. I was given Vicodin and an antibiotic to take for a week to help. Out of nowhere bout 20 min. Ago I got severe pelvic pain. So bad I couldn t get up or barely walk. It really hurt when I urinated as well. I took the pain medication but it isn t helping at all it seems. Should I go back to the ER or just wait out my symptoms and they should go away?
I am sorry for the agony you are suffering from. The pain you are describing seems like the pain of the kidney stone. The bladder infection may also be associated with the stone as it is usually the case.
I would advise you to visit the emergency room or a urologist and get an ultrasound of the kidney and pelvic area. If kidney stones are present, their presence, number and size can be diagnosed based on ultrasound report. A urine analysis can also detect presence of stone by detecting mineral output in the urine. Management can be decided later according to the size of the stone, if present. Drinking lots of fluids at this stage will help. You can also take Acetaminophen 500 mg or Ibuprofen 400 mg for the relief in pain till you visit a doctor.
I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon!
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
