Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.
I can understand your concern. Forehead or periorbital injury can cause black swollen eye. It occurs because of rupture of blood vessels in skin layer and accumulation of blood/fluid in layers.
You should not worry if he is conscious, oriented, active and responding well.
The bruise and swelling will subside on its own in 10 to 14 days. To fasten relief, you can
: Apply icepacks at injury site
: Keep his head at higher level than chest
: Give him painkiller syrup like
Diclofenac sodium after proper prescription
: You should also observe him for signs of dangerous
head injury like vomiting/bleed through nose,ear, throat/
loss of consciousness for more than 5 minutes/fits. If you find any of above sign,
consult doctor as soon as possible. He may advise CT head to rule out
fracture or brain bleed. Further management will be decided after report.
Hope it will help you. Take care.
Thanks.
