Suggest Treatment For Bipolar Disorder

My question simply is there a cure or treatment for bipolar?? A few years back I was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder, they had me on a mood suppressor, that seemed to help but when I couldn t afford the medication anymore, I thought I could control it on my own.......boy was I wrong!! my mood swings bounce all around (happy, sad, angry, depressed, and even suicidal at times)which is annoying, I have some days that I have the most happiest of thoughts!! when Im super happy or angry I get into like a talking frenzy and you just cant get me to shut up, all day when I at work, walking around town, my mind seems to wander and I cant help myself! My irritation levels are thru the roof, most day like 6 out of 7 days I seem to get irritated at the least little thing and I mean it could be the stupidest things like my laptop is moved and I didn t move it, I slam it down or put it where its supposed to be with a huffy attitude! See not I thought I could smoke and it would help, it does wonders UNTILL I lose the hi then im back to being angry, sad, depressed and hardly ever happy! speaking of work, my bipolar has got so bad that I cant focus at work, I don t want to be at work or just a sudden burst of rage like I want to blow up the building and then there is some day that I just want to ball my eyes out and I don t know why, I also thought for the longest time that I had insomnia but they told me it was because of my bipolar disorder! PLEASE can you help me before its too late!!

Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.

I understand that you have been going through a difficult time due to your mental health problems. From the description of your symptoms, it appears that you are indeed suffering from a Bipolar disorder. You seem to be going through periods of depression and mania, which are characteristic of Bipolar disorder.

Bipolar disorder can be treated and your symptoms can be effectively controlled with regular intake of medication. There are medication called mood stabilizers like Lithium, Valproate, Carbamazepine, etc. which can prevent mood fluctuations and help you lead as normal a life as possible. But it is important to remember that these medication have to be regularly and continuously, sometimes even life long. This is because Bipolar disorder cannot be cured completely or eradicated, but it can be kept under control with regular medication.

Also, avoiding taking substances like alcohol, tobacco and drugs is important, because these can worsen your symptoms. It is also important to maintain a healthy lifestyle with regular sleeping habits and avoid stress as much as possible.

So, I would suggest that you consult a psychiatrist for a detailed evaluation and further treatment.

Wish you all the best.
