Suggest Treatment For Belching And Acid Reflux At Night

I experience severe bloating, certain foods make it worse, and some even cause nausea or vomiting (only has happened twice in the past year). The bloat is usually gone by the morning if the gas has been expelled. However, at night, there s belching and acid reflux - I can t lie down. My stomach feels hard. I am seldom hungry, and when I am, it doesn t take much to make me feel stuffed. I m very tired all the time and don t feel like myself. I ve taken to drinking fresh ginger tea in the evenings, which helps considerably, but the problem is still there.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
This is dr. Klarida Papaqako answering your question.
Thank you for posting your question to HCM.

From what you are describing looks like you need treatment for the acid reflux. It is a problem called GERD (gastro- esophageal acid reflux).
If I was your caring doctor, I would give these recomandations:
-- weight loss if you are overweight or obese, or have a recent weight gain
-- elevate head of bed if possible
-- try to have dinner several hours before going to sleep, in this way the stomach will be not full.
-- several medicines may help, but I give my patients esomeprazole (Nexium) 20-40 mg once daily in general, to use for 4-6 weeks.

If these measures are not helping, or if it lasting after you finish the treatment, you should probably consider a Fibrogastroscopy, which will look closely to your stomach and diagnose any complicated causes of the same symptoms like gastritis or an ulcer.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can help with something else.
Take care
