Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my husband has afib and just got prescribed risperidone. his cardiologist is not on til Monday. he takes klonipin . I just called the pharmarcy and she said if his afib is undercontrol., he should be ok. and most people have not problem... but I am just checking out all angles..he takes digoxin.also plus some more meds which I can type in if you need them...anyway the dose prescribed is 0.25 mg at night . which he has not taken yet.
I understand your concern for your husbands health. I would like to tell you that risperidone and Klonopin are psychiatric medication which can be taken by a AF patient without an issue. For his AF its advisable that he should start DIGOXIN as prescribed by the cardiologist as it help in resting heart rate control in AF patients. And another thing which you need to make sure is that he should be on A ANTICOAGULANT medication like WARFARIN for protection from clot formation in heart. If its there then its fine and if not then you should talk to your cardiologist regarding this.
I wish him Good Health
