Suggest Treatment For Asthma , Osteoporosis And COPD

Hi My mam is 81 yrs of age & suffers from asthma, osteoporosis, COPD, emphysema. She lost a lot of weight in the last year & a half, was 67kg & is now only 50+kg. She is under the care of a respitory consultant & together with her GP have had her through every test possible & says there is nothing sinister going on so why is she losing all the weight?

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
At the age of 81 years if all blood investigations and other work up done is normal, then do not worry. Generally people with COPD have lesser muscle mass. If she has no other co morbidities then a diet rich in protein and protein supplements will help her. Also get her hemoglobin and vitamin B 12 levels checked , if low will require supplementation.
Hope I have solved your query.
