Hello
Your father is a known case of bronchial asthma , so try to avoid predisposing factors like , dust , mite , pollen , pests , fumes ,smoking ( active & passive 0 , sudden increase or decrease in temperature , exertion ( specially for your father ).
As he developed sever bronchoconstriction so use some steroid inhaler instead of asthalin.
When such case visit I advise my patient to take montelukast+bambuterol tablet , once or twice in day till complete recovery.
Hot coffee and steam inhalation also provide instant relief.
Since montelukast+bambuterol and steroid inhaler are prescription drugs ,so take a prescription from a physician .
Hope this will help you.
