I feel weak and tired. .. exhausted all the time. No energy. I have been diagnosed with anxiety. Have tried several SSRI and Xanax and Ativan... nothing helps symptoms. I am concerned there s more to the problem. Have had several blood panels.. thyroid shows normal...only issue is enlarged liver nothing further. I have Kaiser..keeps reverting back to anxiety. I feel like I can t workout anymore due to no energy. I am and have been in the gym 4 times a week and run 2 miles a day but as of recent I can t even walk up stairs without feeling weak. I am 6 0 210 lbs otherwise healthy. Any ideas or things to ask my GP about?

Hello thanks for asking from HCM

You have complaints of weakness, tiredness, exhaustion, lack of energy etc and you have tried several SSRI medicines and other drugs like Xanax and Ativan. All blood investigations, thyroid function tests came normal. As anxiety is not responding to conventional drugs then other drugs like SNRIs are used. Medicines like Duloxetine, Venlafaxine etc can help in anxiety not responding to SSRIs. Other medicines like Propranolol, Atenolol can also be used in place of benzodiazepines. The drugs are free of abuse potential and help to reduce the symptoms of anxiety.

Consult a psychological for behaviour therapy. Behavioural treatment especially relaxation exercises help to decrease anxiety and increase confidence. Consult a psychiatrist for detailed prescription of drugs.

Thanks, hope this helps you.
