Suggest Treatment For Anxiety And Depression

Hi dr,I have been taking St. John's wort 4000mg and eveningmprimrose oil 1000mg for moderate depression. I have been taking these supplements for 2 Weeks. I am 55yrs old and I feel this is due to hormonal changes because I don't normally experience anxiety/depression. I haven't noticed any improvement, so any other suggestions. Thanks Maria.

Hello Maria,
These supplements have not been proven to successfully treat depression and anxiety. The proper treatment for your problem would be antidepressants. You can take medicines like escitalopram after consulting your doctor. Also you can practice relaxation exercises like deep breathing, biofeedback, yoga etc.
Thanks.
