Suggest Treatment For Aneurysm At The Base Of The Skull

my 87 year old mother is a diabetic, has glaucoma, has an aneurysm at the base of her skull, has had 2 coronary by-passes, a renal by-pass, is in kidney failure, has had her thyroid removed, has rheumatoid arthritis and takes multiple medications. (whew way too many). That said, she continues to care for herself on a daily basis. She see s her cardiologist, opthamologist, urologist, and internist on a very regular schedule. She is currently visiting me (her daughter in WA state). She resides alone in CA. Recently upon awakening she sees one light grey and one dark large spot -sometimes with even borders other times as if they were large blotches of splattered paint. When she looks at something light in color these blotches turn blood red. She describes them as dripping or flowing like blood. A few seconds after seeing this red her vision returns to normal. Any ideas other than calling her opthamologist for an appointment?

Geriatrics Specialist 's  Response
Hello
Thank you for writing to us on Health care Magic.
Based on your history the response to your question is as follows.
1. She requires an ophthalmologist opinion first.
2. Appears to be symptoms related to retina. Possible retinal detachment needs evaluation.
3. If retina is normal, aneurysm pressure on optic nerve evaluation with an MRI will be necessary. First meet an ophthalmologist at the earliest.
Hope this is helpful to you.
Do write back to me for further questions.
Thank you
