Suggest Treatment For Androgenetic Alopecia

Hello I am 25 yrs old suffering from androgenic alopecia. I have been using minoxidil for the past 6 months but there is no regrowth only the hair fall rate has slowed down. What treatment would you suggest given there has been no noticeable change from using minoxidil?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
Only 2 drugs currently have US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)–approved for treatment of androgenetic alopecia
1.Minoxidil- minoxidil lengthen the duration of the anagen phase(active growth phase of hair follicles), and it may increase the blood supply to the follicle. Regrowth is more pronounced at the vertex than in the frontal areas. Frontal areas may show growth after 3-4 month use.The drug is marketed as a 2% or a 5% solution, with the 5% solution being more effective
Continuing topical treatment with this drug is necessary indefinitely because discontinuation of treatment produces a rapid reversion to the pretreatment balding pattern.
2.Finasteride-Finasteride is given orally . The drug can be used only in men because it can produce ambiguous genitalia in a developing male fetus. Finasteride has been shown to diminish the progression of androgenetic alopecia in males who are treated, and, in many patients, it has stimulated new regrowth.

Surgical treatment of androgenetic alopecia is needed if patient does not correspond to medicinal treatment. Surgical results are often satisfactory& is accomplished by covering the bald area with donor plugs (or follicles) sufficient in number to be effective. Micrografting produces a more natural appearance than the old technique of transplanting plugs.

So visit your doctor , if problem persist

Don't worry you would be fine
Hoping your query is solved.
