Suggest Treatment For An Insect Bite

I have a sore calm muscle underneath what appears to be a large blemish or possible bug bite. The area around it is red and the muscle underneath has a sore dull pain that increases with use (walking, climbing stairs). I am not sure if I need to see a doctor or see if it goes away. I have been experiencing these symptoms for about 3 days.

Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concern.
Most bites and stings will heal on their own without a visit to a doctor. There are several things you can do to relieve pain and itching and prevent infection from a bite or sting.
Some advices that I can give to you are:
-Apply an ice pack to a bite or sting for 15 to 20 minutes once an hour for the first 6 hours.
-Elevate the area of the bite or sting to decrease swelling.
-Try medicine for the relief of itching, redness, and swelling. An antihistamine taken by mouth, such as Benadryl or Chlor-Trimeton, may help relieve itching, redness, and swelling.
-A spray of local anesthetic containing benzocaine, such as Solarcaine, may help relieve pain.
-Hydrocortisone 1% cream or calamine lotion applied to the skin may help relieve itching and redness. Note.
-After the first 6 hours, if swelling is not present, try applying warmth to the site for comfort.
Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help, thanks!
