Suggest Treatment For An Injured Toe.

I dropped a heavy item on my big toe and 3 days later it is still throbbing and the nail is purple, I have been icing it and soaking in Epsom salt s but it is not getting better, there is so much sensitivity that I can not wear sandles or my slippers. What do I do??

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Injured nail is not a problem. If it is hardly injured, should fall of. This is a natural process and not always medical attention is necessary.
But the pain can be caused by some bone fracture. Therefore, you should have an X-ray of this toe done to rule it out. Fracture is possible even if the symptoms do not indicate it.
Please consult a surgeon or orthopedist with this issue.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
