Hi i have had an eye infection affecting both eyes for 9 months now. It started like conjuctivitis both eyes wer red sore and crusty especially when i wake up in the morning. i saw my gp who prescribed chloramphenicol. this did not help so she said it was like an allergic reation and gave me antihistamines and sodium chromaligiate. she also did swabs which came back clear. however i am still suffering the same symptoms any ideas on what i can do now?

Hi thanks for asking question in HCM.
Here swab comes negative so might be viral conjuctivitis or allergic .
Here is some suggestion for you.
Use lubricant eye drops which help in relieving soreness and stickiness of eye.
Whenever you have sticky discharge, don't remove directly with hand. This sticky discharge removed with cotton woll soaked in water.Remove it gently.
Do frequent hand washing.
Sometime conjuctivitis may be because of rubbing eye with hand or allergy to contact lense. In such case anttihistaminic is to be used, like cetrizine.
Take enough rest.
I hope my suggestion will help you.
