Suggest Treatment For An Enlarged Prostate Gland

my husband has an enlarged prostate gland which caused him to not void his bladder when urinating. This caused backup into kidneys. Catheter was installed. Tests run. Dr. says no cancer in bladder, but he has zero muscle function in his bladder. Says there is nothing that can be done. Is this true? Are there medications or exercise he can do to strengthen his bladder? He is self catheterizing 3-4 times per day now

I appreciate your concern for your beloved husband.
Based on the history given he seems to be suffering from frequent retention of the urine due to an enlarged prostate gland.
The following drugs are useful to treat his condition.

Alpha-1–receptor blockers such as Tamsulosin or Alfuzosin are very effective at relieving symptoms. They work by relaxing the muscles around the prostate and bladder neck, so urine can flow more easily.
He may also get benefit from drugs like Finasteride which reduces the size of the prostate thereby preventing the urinary retention and thus avoiding the need for frequent self catheterization.

He needs to consult a urologist for further evaluation and certain lab tests before starting the treatment.
