Suggest Treatment For Allergic Catarrh

I am a 26 years old male (nigerian). About 5ft7inch in height and 55kg weight.

I have been having this serious catarrh since i was 5. It is usually initiated by exposure to dust and cold weather. The symptoms i feel are: frequent, sneezing and headache. I have seen doctors but what they prescribe only relieve me of the symptoms. I need a drug that will cure it finally. Some of the drugs i have used are procold and actifed.

Allergist and Immunologist 's  Response
Hello,

Thank you for asking at HCM.

I went through your history and would like to make suggestions for you as follows:

1. I usually suggest my such patients regular montelukast-levocetirizine for 4 weeks.

2. I would suggest you allergy testing for aeroallergens, i.e., house dust mites, molds, pollens, insect proteins, pet dander (if you have pet). This will help you identify the substances causing allergies to you and also to know the measures to avoid them.

3. Based on allergy testing, an Allergist-Immunologist may prescribe you allergen specific immunotherapy which works on immune system to gradually improve allergy symptoms.

4. In general, I would suggest you to avoid exposure to dusts, smokes and air pollution.

5. Regular physical exercises and a healthy diet rich in vitamins & minerals will also help you gradually in improving immunity over a long period.

Hope above suggestions will be helpful to you.

Should you have any further query, please feel free to ask at HCM.

Wish you the best of the health ahead.

Thank you & Regards.
