Suggest Treatment For Acid Reflux

I am a 20 year old female with an average to slim build, previously diagnosed with acid reflux, but unsure if it is the correct diagnosis. My medications include Alysena 28 and occasional use of omeprazole for reflux symptoms. Recurring symptom is difficulty keeping liquids down, but the problem is not present with solid foods or thick liquids. Heartburn is rare, but the sensation of gas rising in the back of the throat is present almost daily. Occasional upper abdominal bloating to the point of slightly impairing breathing. I have had a barium swallow x-ray, abdominal ultrasound, chest x-ray, and blood tests to test for ulcers, gallbladder problems, nutrient deficiencies, pregnancy, and Crohn s. Symptoms can be triggered by high fat or high sugar foods, alcohol, or hunger. What other tests should I request to determine if acid reflux is the cause or if it is another issue? Are there any lifestyle changes that may help to manage these symptoms?

Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

Acid reflux or reflux esophagitis or gastroesophageal reflux diseased can be diagnosed on the basis of clinical features and upper GI endoscopy.

Your all these symptoms of gastrointestinal tract seem to be due to GERD.

For gastroesophageal reflux disease,

You will need drugs with some precautions and this combined effect will helpful to you.

You may require proton pump inhibitors(lansoprazole) with prokinetic drugs(cisapride, mosapride, levosulpride) which actually increases stomach emptying time along with effect on gasteoesophageal sphincter.

Apart from medication you need to follow certain listed things.

1) Avoid oily, spicy and high fiber diet.
2) Avoid eating with full stomach rather you eat small frequent meals.
3) Avoid taking rest for 2 hours after meal.
4) You can walk slowly up to first 2 hrs of meal but don't walk fast.
5) You made regular eating pattern.
6) Have your dinner before 8 pm so that at the time of sleeping your stomach will be empty.
7) Do yoga regularly.

All this cumulative effect will be beneficial to you while treating for the GERD.

Consult gastroenterologist for complete and thoroughly management.

Thanks.
