Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Liposarcoma De-differentiated
My best friends mother was diagnosed with abdominal liposarcoma de-differentiated. They tell her they can not do surgery. She has already had one surgery and has healed from that. However, the tumor came back. The tumor has doubled in size in just a short time. They also said there is some sort of sack of fluid near the tumor and they dont know what it is. Basically they are telling her there is nothing they can do for her. I think she should get a second even third opinion. They live in Colorado. The need a specialist as this is a rare form of cancer. Any suggestions on where they find an expert for these tumors? Their insurance is Kaiser. They cannot afford cancer center of america because they want $55,000 up front! They are desperate and are not sure where to turn. We are looking into holistic and nutritional healing until we can find someone who can give more answers or hope.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Liposarcoma is a malignant tumor arising from the adipose tissue. The tumor is known to recur after removal. The surgical excision of the tumor depends on size of the tumor, location (superficial or deep), relation to underlying structures, etc. An inoperable liposarcoma can be managed by chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy. You need to consult an oncologist for further work. The treatment is expensive but this work up is mandatory.
