Suggest Treatment For Abdominal And Back Pain Along With Loose Stool

I had a reoccurrence of my diverticulitis this past weekend. Pain on left side lower abdomen going into my back and horrible gas pain. No constipation. I had divertic in Jan. of this year. I called my GI on call and he said I could start Levoquin and see if it worked. It started to work after 2 doses. I don t have any left sided pain any more but lots of stomach rumbling, cramping and gas and some loose stool. Yesterday I had a small amount of blood, now tonight I passed 2 brown strings? about 3-4 inches long, after about 3 hours of cramping. The cramping seems better. I also took an anticolinergic today. I am concerned what the strings were, they were not mucousy.

I really appreciate your concern, apart from the history of diverticulitis other symptoms or present history could be suggestive of intestinal infection and worm infestation too, condition can be managed with single dose anti protozoa drug like Secnidazole 1 g single dose and to rule out the possibility of worm stool examination is advisable or it can be treated on tentative basis with Abendazole, for the pain you can have Tab Dicyclomine hope this information.
