I have had a sore throat for the last few days, it's only my right side round my thyroid/pulse area its tender when i press on it. My Doctor gave me penicillin, i have only a couple of tablets left but they don't appear to work. The pain is going up into my jaw making me feel like i have toothache. I have no cold/fever symptoms it also hurts intermitently when i swallow.
Hi dear user, I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
Subacute thyroiditis is the most common cause of pain in the thyroid gland. In some cases, this pain might also spread to other parts of your neck, your ears, or your jaw and cause difficulty swallowing. Most people typically develop hyperthyroidism i Your thyroid may be swollen and tender to the touch. In my opinion this condition can be the cause of your symptoms.
I suggets to see an endocrinologist in your area because you nedd to do the thyroid tests(TSH,free T3, free T4)and a thyroid ultrasuond.Other necessary tests might b :Radioactive iodine uptake ,Thyroglobulin level ,Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR).
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help. Thank you for using HCM. Wish you good health.
