hi, I am 71 yrs of age and I have been to the dr for this... a specialist too. anyway I was told nothing only something going on in there..... he gave me some medicine called PROPIONATE GEL. I used this and I got better... that has been around 2yrs ago.... anyway my question would be what can I do for this because it is back....this is dealing with my mouth and tongue...it is like a sore in the mouth.... I had a biopsy... it was okay... I am still going thru the menopause flashes..had a partial hstorectomy, there are so many things that make me want to ask someone... people say it might be my thyroid... which I get annual checkups... the dentist sent me to the mouth specialist... that seemed like a joke... but the medicine I can t get again unless I go back to him... I rub the gums with this medicine and really does help.... and my toothpaste is one I got at a wholefoods store.... its like I can t handle regular toothpaste either... anyway thanks for listening....

Suggest Treatment For A Sore In Mouth
Hi, Welcome to HCM, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns. In elderly persons, soreness could be due to dentures, nutritional deficiencies( iron, folic acid, vitamin c and zinc). propionate gel is a local anesthetic do work for the pain, but will not rectify your root cause. I suggest you to visit an ent surgeon, evaluate with investigations and get proper treatment. all the best, take care.
