Suggest Treatment For A Small Bite Wound Under The Upper Lip

Two days ago , I accidentally bit the inner lateral surface of my upper lip because I was eating fast . Now it's white and hurting when eating , and I'm fasting for 2 days . What moisture do you advise me to take to help accelerate the healing of the cells ? and would it affect my sinuses ? cause we learned that this area along with the sides of the nose are dangerous clinically .

Understanding your concern.


Thanks for your query . Lip bite is very common kind of thing and there is no need to panic . The area will take around week to heal . And there is no chance of infection to travel to your sinuses .

I would suggest you to :-

- Maintain proper oral hygiene .

- Do hydrogen peroxide gargles this is very effective in case of cuts . Mix hydrogen peroxide with equal amount of water and then rinse mouth with it.

- Apply benzocain gel on it before having meal.

- Avoid hot and spice food .

If wound doesn't start getting inprove in 3-4 days or get worse then consult oral surgeon or dentist.

Doctor examine the wound physically , may give stitches if wound is large , wash it with bedadine and prescribe antibiotics .
