Suggest Treatment For A Persistent Cough

Hi, I stated back at the end of Oct. with a sore throat, cough, and just feeling bad. went to clinic and was given a steroid shot, antibiotic shot, put on antibiotics for 10 days, and got better for a day or two, but the cough continued..went to Doc. z-pac... still coughing so hard throwing up, coughing up foamy crude, and phlegm. went back to doc. chest xray clear... but cough worse. two inhalers and cortisone shot. not better...back to doc. put on Levoqin 750mg. Still coughing and feel terrible, part from like of sleep, sore ribs front and back....etc. back to doc..put on more steroids, and symbicort too now, refereed to lung doc for after Christmas. I also have a metallic taste when cough, before starting the meds. Can you help me?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have persistent cough which is due to chronic lung infection or bronchitis. Need not to worry much. I would suggest you to visit pulmonologist once and get it examined. You should go for pulmonary function tests and x-ray chest as well to check exact level of infection. Start treatment only after proper prescription. Drink plenty of water. Take hot milk rich in turmeric as it will booster immunity. You need inhaled bronchodilators and antihistamine drug. You should use mist humidifiers in room. You should take cough expectorants as well.
