Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query a painful bump on the throat could be because of viral infection as well as bacterial infection. Strep throat is one of the probable cause of your symptoms. I would suggest you to take a combination of anti-inflammatory and antihistamines. Take diet rich in multivitamins. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. Start antibiotic and antiviral drugs as per diagnosis. Do warm saline gargles 3-4 times a day. avoid hot, sharp, spicy foods. Avoid cold carbonated drinks.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
