Suggest Treatment For A Painful Bump On The Groin Area

Hi there. I have a huge abscess on my inner thigh, near groin area. It blew up fairly quick had a giant red circle around it, hot to touch. very painful. Never came to a head. After about two days of trying to get it to come to a head and it getting much worse. Turned purple and black, I gave in and went to the urgent care. They said it was MRSA, lanced it (said he wasnt sure if he got all the infection out) gave me antibiotics and sent me on my way. I pulled the drainage out after 2 days, like he said. I have white all around and in my drainage hole, along with it leaking green pus and other colored (mostly yellow and white) pus. The red is still there, and pain is starting to come back. Also, i just feel bad, like worn out, and have had Headaches for 2 days now. Is this normal? Could the infection be returning? Thanks, FD

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,

MRSA is a bacteria that is resistant to many antibiotics, so its better to make an antibiogram to find bacteria and the right antibiotic to use. you can try to use a antibiotic cream like ac fusindic cream 2 times a day on effected area. An Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs ) like brufen 400 mg to reduce the pain and headaches (if you are not allergic of them). Turn back to your doctor to evaluate the situation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ardiana Sinani
