My 14 year old son was running without shoes on a football field. He slipped while running jamming his left big toe into the ground. He felt his toenail push into his toe. The whole toe swelled up and he has alot of bruising around the toenail and the first knuckle. This happened 1 and 1/2 days ago. The top of the nail was bleeding alot initially. Today, the top of the toenail is bleeding a little still. My son can walk today with a limp and not using the toe much without pain. Could it be broken? With it bleeding still, should I worry? He has an appointment with his PCP on Tuesday. Today is Sunday. Does this need attention today with it improving a little every day?
