Hello,

I can understand your concern. I would advise you to follow your consulting doctor's instructions and take the medicines for 4 weeks as the infection you were suffering from was severe and chronic in nature.

In addition, you can follow some simple tips to prevent this recurrent infection in future.
-Drink lots of water every single day. The minimum daily intake of water should be 1.8 liters to prevent UTI. Cranberry juice helps a lot.
-Always urinate after sexual intercourse as it helps in eliminating bacteria in the pelvic area and prevents them colonizing there.
-Always wipe the area after urination from front to back and not from back to front as bacteria in the anal region tend to cause UTI.
-If you are comfortable, use tampons instead of pads during periods.
- Do not keep long intervals between urination. Try to urinate every 4 hours during day. Avoid holding urine in for long time.
-Do not wear very tight undergarments. Switch to cotton.

I hope this answer helps you. Thank you for choosing HCM. Let me know if you have follow up questions.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
