Suggest Treatment For UTI

I have a UTI and just started my third round of antibiotics. Cipro was first (3 days) and then Bactrum for 7 days. My dr. just prescribed a tetracycline antibiotic for 7 days. My question is this: I don t have any symptoms (other than irritated skin when I urinate); I am 63 years old and haven t had a bladder infection in 20 years. I have been told that this could be a kidney infection since I don t have the usual symptoms that I experienced when I as younger. Is this correct? Thank you

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Urine examination must have been positive for pus cells for you to be treated for the third round of antibiotics.
2. If it is a kidney infection, ultrasound abdomen would show pockets of pus cells and also, you would have high grade fever with chills and rigors.
3. As you do not have those symptoms, you are possibly suffering from resistant lower urinary tract infection. Also need to take plenty of fluids. Concentrated urine can cause burning of skin. Also cranberry and blueberry juices will reduce bladder infection. Correct your hydration and get the urine analysis done. If positive, treatment will be necessary based on culture and sensitivity.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
