Suggest Treatment For UTI Symptoms

Male, 21, 6'0, 244lbs, recently visited doctor due to what appeared to be UTI symptoms and was given a prescription for 20 pills of Doxycycline Hyclate, but with most of my pills taken, I'm still experiencing pain in the lower back, kidney area, loss of sex drive, and difficulty maintaining an erection. Thoughts?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

This condition of present time seems to be due to causative organisms resistant to Doxycyline, inadequate maintenance of hydration level, associated calculus in urinary tract, anxiety of recovery, genital hygiene issues, and others.

Certain recommendations for better recovery are:
• Consume plenty of liquids through the whole day
• Cranberry sachets once a day in glass of water with citrus fruits help
Vitamin c supplements also support
• Keep genitals clean and dry
• Avoid exposure to excess heat
• Avoid sexual intercourse at present
• Avoid stress and anxiety
• Avoid smoking and alcohol

In our clinic, we recommend urine culture report with ultrasound of abdomen and pelvis to focus more over the issue.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
