Suggest Treatment For UTI And Dysentry

hi doctor, I just had protected sex(8 days back) with another partner. I got urine infection and dysentery in 4 days. My weight lost 1 kg in last 1 week. My dysentry is over now after taking anti biotics. I have a doubt whether I have hiv. But I don t have fever. Whether I will be okay?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
I have gone through your question and understand your concern. Get stool and urine tested and urine culture /sensitivity done. It is common in females to suffer with urinary tract infection after or with the episode of diarrhea. Female anatomy with short length of urethra gives the organisms from rectum an easy access causing urinary tract infections, particularly when the stool is watery microbes from stool gain easy entry.
After getting the test result post your test reports at HCM or consult your family physician, a short course of antibiotics (based on culture and sensitivity reports) will treat the infection.
HIV does not show immediate symptoms, it takes at least few weeks to months for body to develop symptoms. Weight loss of 1 kg is not significant with diarrhea it is most likely water loss. Re-hydration( using oral re-hydration liquids) and taking alkaline citrate (available over the counter) is the key treatment till the above test are done. Hope your concern is answered. Thank you.
