Pediatrician 's  Response
Its shear badluck to get such desease... A team effort is needed to treat such patient... Physiotherapy can help in some cases but it is contraindicated in advanced cases as it puts more load on remaining functional portion of muscles... So combined effort of pediatrician and physiotherapist needed... Additionally if you are planning next pregnancy consult a specialist in genetics for further advise to avoid the condition in future kids...
