Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was finally told it was RLS after complaining of the pain in my leg would wake me up several times a night. That had gone on for about 5 years. My doctor had me try pramipexole and it worked immediately! After research it looks like I can look forward to augmentation. Is that an absolute? Will I have to play with different drugs forever???
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. RLS or restless leg syndrome occurs due to unknown reasons. In some studies supplementation of Vitamin B12 and E has been found to be successful in reducing the symptoms. You are on Pramipaxol and the drug has good efficacy in RLS. Medicines like Gabapentin or Pregabalin can be used to augment the drugs. Both medicines are found to be useful in RLS. Some doctors advise benzodiazepines as augmentation drugs in RLS in addiction to conventional drugs. Consult your doctor and ask for detailed evaluation and prescription of these drugs.
Thanks, I hope this helps you. Take care
