Suggest Treatment For Interatrial Aneurysm
I had an annual physical recently which included an EKG. The EKG result was abnormal (q waves) so I was sent for an Echo test. The Echo test result stated Interatrial Aneurysm and I was referred to a Cardiologist with instructions to start taking an 81 mg aspirin a day. I ve done some searching online but not been able to find just Interatrial Aneurysm, the word Septral is in most descriptions I ve found. My appt is upcoming with a Cardiologist and I d like to be prepared with good questions.....can you suggest things I should ask so I can learn all I need to know at the appointment? Thank you

What you are having is Interatrial septal aneurysm (IASA).
Although IASA are usually found incidentally as in your case, they can have clinical consequences, such as cardiac thrombo-embolic events with risk of stroke.-hence the role of aspirin in low dosage (81 mg) as anti-platelet drug.
