Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

Since you have confirmed genital herpes, therefore it is likely that your sexual partner contracted the infection from you.
Unprotected sexual encounter makes it all the more likely. However, whether he has herpetic lesions or something else can only be resolved on physical examination.
Symptoms like pain are subjective and some people may initially complain of red, raised bumps or fluid filled lesions before they rupture to form classical painful erosions of herpes.
It is very possible that he has something else e.g something like Molluscum Contagiosum. Molluscum is also an STD and is caused by a virus. A Molluscum lesion is usually white, just like a whitehead and it is painless too. A physical would be very useful in confirming or ruling it out.
Molluscum can be clinically silent, therefore, you may not have been aware of it before you passes it on to your sexual partner.
