Suggest Treatment For Diabetes

First let me say I have been diagnosed with Diabetes for two years. I am 51, 5'6 150 pounds. I have been to two endocrinologists, the first after one year could not get my numbers better after seven different kinds of pills. Then sought out another opinion. Started on just januvia, then went to that and Lantus, gained an extra eighteen pounds last year and the lost it on Medifast after being on lantus for 7 months at night. Everything was fine for two months A1C was 5.1 was told to go off lantus and Januvia. Two months later, A1C climbed to 6.8 now on Novolog recently (two months before meals). Was told pills would not work for me anymore. My fasting am glucose's are still pretty high 160's to 180's. Had a physical last week, PCP asked why I wasnt on some form of insulin at night to bring down fasting am glucose. Should I be on something else also? I also carb count, exercise three times a week and dont drink. I am the model patient. Even losing the 18 pounds did nothing for my numbers. Should I seek another opinion? I see my endocrinologist this week. This will be the first time he goes over my log since going on Novolog TID before meals.

Hello,
Your fasting levels are definitely high and need better control.
It can be achieved by increasing the dose of novolog or adding an insulin in night like lantus and januvia can definitely added back to your regime.
Let's see what your endo says now but you definitely need better control of your fasting levels and I don't see any reason why it can't be achieved.
Thanks
