Suggest Treatment For COPD With Difficulty Breathing And High BP

I was diagnosed with COPD in the ER back in August. I would like to see a pulmonologist and would like to know what to expect on my first visit. I would also like to know if I should keep a journal of some sort before my appointment - in 2 wks - is this going to be helpful at all. I'm having difficulty breathing, I have heart troubles, high blood pressure, have had 4 heart attacks, an angioplasty and the list goes on. What can I expect on my first visit?

Thanks for your question on HCM. Uncontrolled COPD can lead to heart problems and if already exist than COPD can worsen them. You should definately go for chest x ray and puomonary function test (PFT). These will not only diagnose COPD but also stage it and tells you how severe your disease is. And according to severity treatment is guided. Basic need is quit smoking and start pulmonary rehabilitation. Also go for vaccination with h.influenza and pneumococcal vaccine. Doctor should prescibe you meter dose inhaler containing long acting beta 2 agonist with corticosteroid and anticholinergic.
