Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hi, i am 55 years old man. my bp is varying from 14o to 150 and lower 90 to 95. i am always doing PRANAYAM AND OTHE EXICES REGULARLY BUT BP IS NOT CONTROLED.MY WEIGHT IS 61KG. MY DIET IS VERY NORMAL.
WHAT SHOULD I DO FOR NORMAL BP? I AM NOT TAKING ANY MEDICINE
Thanks for contacting HCM. Dear patient you have not mentioned you height and whether you are obese or not. Also do have any other disease?. Deep slow breathing exercises help in high BP but fast and rapid breathing should not be attempted, similarly kapaalbhati is a big no for BP patients. You have not mentioned what other exercise you are doing, please do them after consulting your doctor as some exercises are contraindicated in high bp. You need to cut down on salt intake, avoid pickles, salted food, Chinese food and should take more of fruits, vegetables, salads and whole grains in your food. if you are obese then losing weight will help. You should under go a minimum battery of tests like Blood glucose, complete blood picture, urine examination, serum lipid profile, renal function tests and E.C.G. to rule out associated abnormalities. Your Bp is sufficiently high to require medication. i would suggest metoprol 50 mg xl preparation once a day, though it is better to get your self examined by a doctor and get treated by him. Regards
