Hello,I am Dr Matin a qualified
HIV Specialist from India . I am very happy to learn that you are enjoying very good health in spite of taking so many drugs under clinical trials for HIV for so long. There are only few ART drugs which injure
kidney like TDF, Indianavir and Atazanavir .I have never heard any HIV patient suffering from Ca of
Hypothalamus , so just your father suffered from it , it is incorrect to think that you may suffer from it. There has to be some scientific evidence/rationale to give it some thought.
There is one study going on in Germany called 'New Era study' under Dr Hans Jager . I have met Dr Jager in a conference in India and know him doing this 'Eradication research' . Related information too is available at http://clinicaltrials.gov/show/NCT00908544.
This study is looking at decreasing viral reservoirs in 40 HIV-infected patients with either primary infection or chronic infection and successful HAART for at least three years. All patients have been started on a multi drug HAART including two NRTI, one PI, a CCR5-inhibitor and an integrase inhibitor. Decay of viral reservoirs like latently HIV-infected CD4+ T-cells will be monitored over time
and this is a step towards 'Eradication of viral reservoirs' , leading to a possible 'cure' from
AIDS.
Hope this helps.
