Suggest Tratament For TMJ Disorder

Hi, my boyfriend has tmj. Long story short, he took drugs at a rave and it

messed up his jaw. He gets random pains and headaches following. He said he went

to a tmj specialist and they said there was nothing he can do about it. I feel

really bad seeing him in such pain and I was wondering if you could give me any

advice to help him. Thanks.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per your complain TMJ disorder can occur due to a number of jaw joint conditions like dislocation of acticular dist, dislocation of the articulating portion of lower jaw, loss of protective fluid known as Synovial fluid etc..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and he can advise you to get a full mouth x ray known as Orthopantomogram done to rule out the exact cause of the problem and the treatment can be planned accordingly..
As of now you can take a combination of painkillers like Etoricoxib and muscle relaxant like Chlorzoxasone or Thiocolchicoside..
Do warm compresses over the jaw joint and proceeding downwards on the side of face and neck.
Go gentle massage with your fingers over the jaw muscles and proceeding towards the neck..
Take a soft diet..
Avoid excessive mouth opening..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
