my 1 year old boy has a very healthy appetite but does not seem to be putting on weight proportionate to his food intake. however his weight is increasing according to his percentile growth. he sometimes does a greasy shiny looking poop. is this normal?

The most important number will always be the number on the scale. As long as he is gaining weight at an appropriate weight, there is no need to be concerned.
