Suggest Therapy For Anxiety & Depression

Hi sir, I m 19yr old male. i have been seeing a psychologist (a consultant psychologist, i happen to visit him once in every few months) because of being constantly anxious and for time being depressed too. He prescribed me nexito 10mg tablets primarily and a few other medication too during this long course of time viz; huperzine(when i told him about my upcoming exams), nexito forte, etc. Personally i may not have been able to differentiate between the positive and negative effects of nexito because my anxiety and depression was due to my circumstances (thats what i think but i m confused about its surety). My conditions bettered and my anxiety level dropped. In middle of my visits he prescribed me Nexito forte (clonazepam) which i continued for some time but avoided taking it later when i realised my disturbed sleeping pattern and hypersomnia was related to taking that medication. I visited him again and he then switched me back to Nexito 10mg In between i ve been diagnosed with Hypothoiroidism too and have been prescribed Eltroxin 100mcg Both my endocrinologist and psychologist told that hypothyroidism is also a cause of low energy level and depression but still my psychologist didn t ceased my nexito medication. I take nexito very infrequently and to be honest i have always been irregular with this medicine. i do not like it to be on medication for a reason like anxiety. FYI my mom was the one who made me visit the doc. i never wanted to. As of now i have not talked to my psychologist for a month or two but have long since stopped taking my medication. I didn t asked him because i have told him before too that i want to stop this medication but no use. I m alright and all fine and little bit of anxiety and confusion and depression sometimes moodoffs are as common as common cold itself and i do not think of resolving these with medicines but counselling or self-talk, introspection. Nevertheless, i feel alright. DID I DO WRONG STOPPING THE MEDICATION WITHOUT MY DOC S CONSENT ? THANKS SORRY I MADE THIS QUESTION TOO LONG I m really extremely sorry... Thanks anyways for reading my problem :-)

Dear
Welcome to HCM
We understand your concerns

I went through your details. I do understand. Anxiety is best treated with a combination of pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, meditation and exercise. This combination brings out a positive result in the affected person. In your case, I feel, you went to the psychologist without trusting him fully. Trust is very important factor in psychological disorder. The medicine works well when the trust is stubborn. As you have stopped the medicine, don;t continue it for now. Best option is to consult a psychologist for counseling, psychotherapy, meditation and exercise..
