Suggest Suitable Treatment For An Eye Infection

Yesterday afternoon I noticed that my eye felt as if it had something stuck in the upper lid. I knocked it down to makeup or an eyelash and went about my day - I could only feel it every so often and just enough to be annoying. Suddenly in the late evening my eye started watering excessively and burned as if I got smoke in it - for about 4 hours. Since, it has felt as if there is something in my upper eye lid again and the watering and burning has virtually stopped. My eyelid is a bit red on the top and a bit puffy but it looks the same as it does any time I have been crying for any length of time (and the eye did water for hours.) I m unsure of what the cause is, as there doesn t appear to be anything inside the eye and flushing didn t seem to help. Upon waking up this morning there was absolutely no crust or discharge.. just a few moments of watering and none since (which was 6 hours ago).
