Hair loss can be due to many causes like stress, hormonal, allergy, fungal infections, or any indwelling systemic disease. Over use of shampoo can also lead to this problem. But sice you have observed "white patches", i guess it could be nothing but dandruff hair fall. So try using products that contain an anti-mycotic called Ketoconazole.
