Suggest Remedy To Relieve Cough And Wheezing

Thank you for your help. I started coughing over a month ago. At first I coughed up white and yellow mucus. Then the mucus became clear and bubbly. I also was wheezing. I went to the doctor and he diagnosed bronchitis. He put me on an antibiotic. After I took the antibiotic, I was still coughing up clear mucus. The doctor gave me an inhaler. It helped my cough until my throat got real red from the use of the inhaler. Now I am beginning to cough again and I feel like something is caught in my throat. I am wheezing some. The dr did an x-ray and said my lungs were clear. Please help if you can. Thank you.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your quetion on HCM. In my opinion you are having all the symptoms due to improper technique of inhaler.
In inhaler, when you press the canister, the jet flow of drug is delivered in your mouth. And at the same time you have to inhale it. So you have to synchronized your inhalation with drug release.
If you are not taking in this way, there is high chance of drug deposition in pharynx. And this will cause infection and irritation in neck. And cause painful swallowing and red throat.
I encounter same oroblem in many of my patients. So I prefer to use inhaler with spacer device. And I ask them to rinse mouth after inhaler use.
So I advice you to consult pulmonologist for inhaler with spacer use. Ask him for proper technique.
